Best AI visibility tools in 2026: 9 trackers by use case and budget
There's no single best AI visibility tool, because the right one depends on how often you run prompts and how many assistants you need. This shortlist sorts nine trackers by team, with a cost example you can redo for your own setup.
How we made this list. AI Monitor is our product and appears below. Prices come from vendors' public pages in November 2026. Nobody here has run all nine side by side, so use the trial method at the end before you buy.
Best AI visibility tools by use case
| Team | Pick | Entry price | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small budget, first tool | Otterly.AI | $29/mo, 15 prompts | Low fixed price with daily runs |
| Agencies with many brands | Rankscale | $17/mo billed yearly | Credits and white-label options |
| Already paying for an SEO suite | Semrush or Ahrefs Brand Radar | $99/mo per domain, or from $50/mo | AI data next to rankings |
| Marketing team, daily reporting | Peec AI | $95/mo, 50 prompts | Strong source analytics, unlimited seats |
| Enterprise with security reviews | Profound | Not public | SSO, SOC 2 and account support |
| Tracking plus site changes | Scrunch | $250/mo billed yearly | AXP, a version of your site for AI agents |
| Needs content direction | Am I On AI | $100/mo, 150 prompts | Recommendations on what to publish |
| Multi-country, weekly tracking | AI Monitor | Pay per check | Per-check pricing, answers asked from the buyer's country |
Monthly cost of weekly tracking
Headline prices mislead here, because plans assume different run frequencies. Take a realistic setup of 20 prompts in three assistants, run once a week. That produces about 258 answers a month.
| Plan | Monthly cost at 258 answers |
|---|---|
| AI Monitor, pay per check | About $40 |
| Peec AI Starter | $95 |
| Otterly.AI Standard (Lite stops at 15 prompts) | $189 |
The AI Monitor figure uses our typical top price of about $0.16 per check. The exact charge depends on the assistant, so some setups come out lower.
A fixed plan costs the same however little of it you use. With per-check pricing you pay for the answers you collect, which suits weekly schedules and pilots where you're still throwing prompts away.
Otterly.AI and Rankscale: low entry prices
Otterly.AI Lite costs $29 a month for 15 prompts, with ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot included. Gemini and AI Mode are $9 each and Claude is $29, so full coverage costs more than double the headline price. Fifteen prompts is also a thin sample for quoting a visibility rate, as our tracking guide explains.
Rankscale uses credits, which suits agencies with uneven workloads. Its Essentials plan is $17 a month billed yearly, though sentiment starts on Pro at $84.
Semrush and Ahrefs Brand Radar: AI data inside an SEO suite
Both make sense if the tool is already in your budget. The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month per domain for 25 prompts, and it gets expensive across several domains.
Ahrefs Brand Radar takes a different route. Alongside custom prompts, its AI Visibility Index covers a huge prompt database built from keyword data, so you can size up a market without writing anything. The index starts at $199 a month and refreshes monthly, which makes it better for research than for weekly reporting.
Peec AI: daily tracking for marketing teams
Peec AI is the default choice for a reason. Starter gives you 50 prompts, about 4,500 answers a month and unlimited seats for $95, and its documentation says plainly that it collects answers through the interface as a logged-out user. The catch is the limit of three active models below Enterprise, with Claude and Perplexity reserved for that tier. Our Peec AI alternatives article goes through its plans in detail.
Profound and Scrunch: larger budgets
Profound is built for brands that need SSO, SOC 2 and a vendor relationship. It doesn't publish paid pricing, so expect a sales process. Scrunch starts at $250 a month billed yearly and adds AXP, which serves AI agents a version of your site built for them. Consider it if you want site changes as well as measurement.
Am I On AI: guidance on what to publish
Am I On AI tracks only ChatGPT and AI Overviews, which rules it out for broad coverage. What you get in exchange is advice on what to write next, at $100 a month for up to 150 prompts.
AI Monitor: per-check tracking by country
AI Monitor is ours. A check is one prompt answered by one assistant, and you pay for the checks you run, with plans at $99 for 500 checks and $299 for 2,000. All engines are included: Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek and Mistral.
Wherever possible, it asks on the assistant's own site through a residential connection in the report's country, and it flags answers that came from somewhere else. Each label comes with its source sentence and can be corrected.
Try it on your own category. New accounts get free credit and need no card. Run your first report with ten prompts, then decide whether a tool like this earns its place.
Trial method for choosing an AI visibility tool
Sales pages in this category look alike, so test the two or three finalists against each other. It takes about a week:
- Write 20 buyer prompts and use exactly the same ones in every trial.
- Run them on three different days, because answers vary between runs.
- Pick five stored answers from each tool and ask the same prompts yourself in a signed-out browser on that day. A big mismatch points to the collection method.
- Open one wrong-looking sentiment label and try to correct it.
- Export everything. If you can't get your data out in a trial, you won't get it out later.
- Ask each vendor how it sets the country, and watch whether the answer is specific.
If Google matters most to you, add the checks from our AI Overview tracker guide, including how each tool handles queries where no overview appears.
Two tools can disagree even when both work properly, since each run samples a different answer. Judge them on differences of 15 points or more, and don't expect any tracker to reproduce what a signed-in customer sees.
FAQ
What is an AI visibility tool?
An AI visibility tool runs your prompts through assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, then reports how often your brand appears, how it's described and which sources were cited. You may also see these sold as LLM tracking tools, GEO tools or AEO tools.
What is the best AI visibility tool for a small business?
Otterly.AI is the usual starting point, at $29 a month with daily runs. If you'd rather check weekly, or test before committing to a plan, pay-per-check tools such as AI Monitor can cost less.
Are there free AI visibility tools?
Few stay free, because each check costs the vendor a model call. Trials and starting credit are common: Profound, Scrunch, Am I On AI and Otterly.AI offer trials, and AI Monitor gives free credit.
How many prompts should I track?
Start with 20 per topic. That's enough for a stable visibility rate, and you can add more once you know which prompts bring useful answers. If you sell several products, give each one its own set.
Do AI visibility tools show the same results?
No. They collect answers differently, ask from different locations and catch different samples of an answer that changes between runs.
